Abstract

The article is a translation of the first two paragraphs of the French textbook Introduction to Romance Philology Studies: The Critical Edition of the Text and Linguistics written by a famous German philologist Erich Auerbach. The translation is provided with a short preface, which briefly describes the conditions for the creation of E. Auerbach’s textbook and information about the preparation of the translation itself.
