Abstract

The article analyses the plot and motif structure of the texts of the Younger Symbolists and shows that two archetypal plots set by Wagner’s work played the most important role for them. The poetic heritage and life-creative acts of the Symbolists involuntarily reflect the evolution of Wagner’s artistic and philosophical world: from the tragic doom of self-valuable individualistic heroics to the Christian ethics of sacrificial self-denial, from the imagery and plot of The Ring of the Nibelung to Parsifal.
