Abstract

The central idea of Noreen Doodyʼs book is that O. Wilde was a literary precursor of W.B. Yeats: the aesthetics and the imagination of the latter formed in close and constant intellectual contact with the former. N. Doody's method is a synthesis of biographical approach and comparative literary criticism with an additional focus on images and symbols: dance/dancer, mask and etc.
